laptops vs desktops: which do you use?

We're all a bit too addicted to our electronics aren't we? I use my laptop almost every day, the almost is thanks to my self-enforced rule of keeping at least one day completely computer-free, and love being able to do everything from the usual mails to sorting out photos to email family, to checking the bank account etc online from the comfort of my home. Having a laptop makes it all so simple. I've often considered whether we should get a desktop instead or in addition to our individual laptops, and even though some of them are so very affordable, I always tilt towards the portability and size of laptops. You can get some discount desktops for a real steal these days and that's really very tempting to make the switch. So far, I'm sticking to laptops!

All said and done, Desktop is more userfriendly for me.
Moreover I like to see my photographs BIG.
And the sound quality with the speakers I have installed with my Desktop is some thing quite unique

It's a laptop for me. It's all about the portability even when I'm at home.

Oh I LOVE that rule and need to see if I can do that.
I really believe staring at a screen is no good for you
and we really spend way too much time in the cyber world, dont WE!? :-)

Haddock, seeing photographs in a larger scale is a definite advantage. My laptop is a wider one...it has a number pad as well, so I have the best of both!

Suma, thanks...it was taken on one of my morning walks. Having a desktop just for photos seems so indulgent, but it would be great to have them separate.

shilpa, lol, and I've never had a desktop in my life, it's been all laptops so far!

nina, thanks for the comment, and loved browsing through your blog too. I need to start writing more about my daily life in Dubai though!

Bridget, so you have the best of both! I love to watch tv and movies on my laptop too :-)

Emma, yes, so true, I always used to carry my laptop with me, till I had my baby. Now it's impossible...unless I get one of those little netbooks.

Emily, yes, it's a great rule, isn't it! Our weekend here in Dubai is Fri and Sat, so fridays are completely computer free and I love it. If I have to- have to check something, then I open up my hubby's laptop :-)
