Reliance Retail restructures management

Reliance Retail announced that it was changing its management structure from a vertical structure to being store based structure. The changes will be effective from May 01, 2007. Bhavdeep Singh will be the company's new head for its food and grocery retail division, Reliance Fresh; S Radhakrishna will head its hypermarket division, which is to be launched as yet and probably will be named Reliance Hyper Marts; and Ajay Baijal will head its consumer electronic and IT division, Reliance Digital. Human resources will now be headed by Uday Bhende, who has joined from Siemens. Bhavdeep Singh has joined from a US based retail chain. Earlier recruits, S Radhakrishna joined from Spencer’s and Ajay Baijal was poached from Reliance Communications to replace Rajeev Karwal.
