list: The simple sounds of Summer
While I load some new CDs onto my iPod, I jot down some of the little sounds of summer that make me happy.
some of the little things that I love....
~hearing the tiny birds peck at the window in the afternoons...
~listening to the dull thud of a ripe mango falling to the ground outside my windows...
~reliving the joy of listening to old music....currently listening to In the Ghetto by Elvis Presley....
~enjoying a revival of old style music....Duffy's Mercy coming up next....
~setting a fun ringtone on my new cell phone...
~relishing the sound of lawn mowers from the neighborhood. It's the desert here, remember, having a lawn is a luxury....
~missing the sound of the all the ice cream vendors....
~water splashing from the hose as the kids play in the water....
~the tinkling of ice cubes in a glass....
Enjoy the summer!
It's burning up here....46C here yesterday and with the heat factor added in about 50C. Can't wait for cooler weather....just 5 more months :-) It's a test of will power to focus on just the good things about summer!

Aditi, thanks...yes, lately it's really been like that. I get claustrophobic after too much time indoors.
bindu, thanks. You're first guess is absolutely right....they are neem flowers.
Wish I could send you a Popsicle :(
Thanks for the comments on the photographs. It is a new found interest :)
It's so nice to hear your summer sounds....so different from what we hear here;-)
Oh the bird pecking on the window is so cute:-)
The dull thud must be awesome!
Enjoy!

The temperatures start improving by Sept / Oct...
trueblue, thanks...and oh yes, a popsicle sounds so lovely in this heat!
ABG, yes I remember spending bits of my summers there....near Richmond etc and the Shenandoah park of course. Hey thanks for the info, been thinking of making some changes too.
Arch, thanks....yes the little birdies are too cute. Wish I knew what exactly they were, but probably some type of sparrow. Lol, yes the thuds are cool....and since we're the closest apt to the trees, I often go out and pick them up ;-)
Lakshmi, thanks....you can make your version of a summer list when you get back!
and good to have u bak in action..
