We had a family gathering at Koilwar on the banks of the Sone river, about 40 kms from Patna. Progress has taken place and there is now electricity and cell phone signals there. Here's the Koilwar page on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koilwar

Unfortunately, I forgot my camera at home...so no pics from this trip. The best view of the bridge is in the movie Gandhi.

Sadly, the bridge is not as serene as it looks in the movie....the traffic moves one way at a time, so there are long queues on either side.

I love the fact that it's part of our history; the country's as well as our family's, with the added twist that my husband and in-law's acted in Gandhi.
