On cheesecakes
So, we decided to go to town yesterday instead of lazing at home. We had a really nice lunch at Cafe Basilico in town, close to the Yatch club which had superb salads, some good fish and chicken entrees and good desert too. What I just don't understand is how and why Cafe Basilico and so many other restaurants in the city just can't get the cheesecake right. So far we have been able to find authentic cheesecakes only at JW Marriot's BBC cafe (short for Bombay Baking Company) and at the Grand Hyatt off the western express highway. Everywhere else, one gets something in-between a mousse and a cake on ordering a cheesecake. My favorite cheesecake is at Coffee Exchange on Wickendon street in Providence, although I had a really decadant one in a little diner off Times Square in NYC. Unfortunatley, I can't remember the name of the place.
