Textbook ads

Another first for advertising: Now ads will appear in textbooks. A small company in St Paul, Minnesota called Freeload Press will be offering free downloads of certain textbooks with ads of FedEx Kinkos and Pura Vida Coffee.

Freeload Press will offer more than 100 titles this fall _ mostly for business courses _ completely free. Students, or anyone else who fills out a five-minute survey, can download a PDF file of the book, which they can store on their hard drive and print.

So far 25,000 users have registered and downloaded 50,000 books from over 300 US colleges and universities. Freeload Press plans to add 250,000 textbooks as well as other study aids available by next year.
