Republic Day

Today was Republic Day and as always it was great to watch the parade on tv. The BSF men were superb as always, perched on bikes and creating pyramids oh so nonchalantly. The best part for me was listening to the national anthem. There is something so special about hearing a military band play the national anthem. They make me feel so proud and patriotic. I just love bands, they bring back so many memories from school days at Sanawar, when we marched just about everywhere. The commentary on Doordarshan was pathetic as usual, especially during the flypast when the camera focused steadfastly on the crowds pointing to the sky and the commentator got as excited as if a six was hit at a cricket match but alas we didn't get to see the Sukhoi 30's or MIGs doing their stuff.
